The Beauty Business Development Council (BBDC) is an organisation that aims to develop and maintain safety measures and promote an ethical business environment for the beauty industry in South Africa.
The Council equally strives to be an industry body that ensures the sustainability of the beauty & cosmetics industry through effective engagements and consultations with the respective government authorities, captains of industry, professionals, trade partners and consumers in the beauty industry.
At its core, the BBDC will play a crucial role in ensuring the sustainability of beauty businesses in Africa through ethical standards of operations and new growth opportunities. The body aspires to create a platform for industry players to connect, network and promote their businesses while ensuring they deliver an efficient and world-class customer centric service.
The BBDC’s vision is to play a significant role in the beauty industry in South Africa and the African continent at large, by ensuring continuous skills development, ethical business practice and job security. Through its diverse and extensive network, the BBDC aims to align itself with the associated council partners in the UK and U.S.A to leverage and gain insight and skills for the benefit of the organisation’s mission, vision, and objectives.
Council Objectives
- Promote viable and sustainable businesses in the beauty industry.
- Establish and apply a code of ethics to the industry together with benchmarking international standards and best
practice. - Uplift and position small businesses in the sector with the aim of nurturing entrepreneurship, contributing to skills
transfer, and creating jobs. - Position manufacturers, businesses, and experts in the beauty industry on both local and international platforms
through exchange programmes, events, publications, and workshops - Create B2B and collaborative opportunities on the African Continental in line with the Africa Free Trade Agreement.
